Lachlan's writing

Check out Lachlan's great writing on the whiteboard today.

Very special visitor

Yesterday we were lucky enough to have a very special bee keeper come and talk to us because we are learning about insects and bee's. The special bee keeper was Maddison's Grandad. He has lots of bees and he breeds Queen bee's.

The bee suit he is wearing is to keep him safe when he is around the bee's.

This is a picture of the Queen Bee who is marked with red dot. The bee keepers put coloured dots on the Queen bees to show the age of the bee.

This is the bee's process growing.
These are different kinds of honey. Did you know that there are different colours and types of honey because of the different trees the nectar was collected from.

Meanies party in Room 15

This week we have been reading a book called The Meanies Party by Joy Cowley so today we had a meanies party.
We got to decorate meany biscuits and decorate meany cupcakes with a friend. At the end of the day we got to eat it. We had a great day.

"Head, Thorax, & Abdomen" the insect song.

This is a song we listened to try and help us remember the parts of an insect.

We have chosen to learn about bee's this term.

We know that a bee is an insect because it has six legs, has an head thorax and abdomen and 2 antenna.

Maths time in Room 15

The squares group have been learning to solve addition problems by counting on. Look at how clever we are...

Special visitor

Today Room 15 went to visit Room 16 because there was a special visitor in their classroom. Do you know who the special visitor was? The special visitor used to be a teacher at Grey Main School but now they live in Australia. The special visitor travelled to Christchurch on a plane then travelled on a train to Greymouth! The special visitor is MISS KOMEN!

We were really happy to see Miss Komen and we are very excited because we are going to Skype her when she goes back to Australia.
